The Whisper Behind the Behavior: What Your Horse (or Your Heart) Might Be Trying to Tell You

There’s a moment—just before the sigh, the flinch, the pulling away—when something sacred happens. It’s not loud. It’s not logical. But it speaks.

Whether it's a horse pausing mid-stride, a child collapsing in tears, or your own chest tightening with emotion... there is always a whisper behind the behavior.

Not a problem to fix.Not a reaction to control. But a message to receive.

🐴 When a Horse Turns Away…

Some might see defiance.I see discernment.A horse that turns its head isn't rejecting you—it’s telling you where you are out of alignment.

Maybe your energy is too loud.Maybe your thoughts are spinning.Maybe you’re not really here.

Their behavior isn't random. It’s communication. It’s how they mirror what we’ve buried. And that, my friend, is where healing begins.

“We show up with stories. They meet us with presence. That’s where the healing begins.”

👶 When a Child Acts Out…

A tantrum isn't rebellion. It’s a red flag. The child may be too overwhelmed to say:

“I’m scared.”“I feel unseen.”“I don’t know how to hold this much energy in my body.”

Just like horses, children respond to our energetic field, not our words. When we soften, ground, and meet them in their world… the truth finds space to rise.

💓 When Your Own Heart Clenches…

You’re scrolling. You see a post. You feel a pang of jealousy—or sadness.Your instinct might be to scroll faster, distract yourself, or scold the feeling.

But wait.

That little clench?That rising tightness?It’s a whisper.

“This matters to you.”“There’s grief here that needs holding.”“You’re ready for something more.”

🌿 3 Ways to Decode the Whisper

1. Slow Down the Scene

Next time something stirs you (or your horse… or your child), pause.Drop into your body. Ask: What was I feeling one moment before this happened?

2. Listen With All Your Senses

What’s happening beyond the behavior?Look for energy shifts: ears, eyes, breath, posture. Horses live through the language of the subtle. So do we.

3. Ask the Deeper Question

Try:

“If this behavior had a message, what might it be trying to say?”“What part of me is showing up through this moment?”“What would compassion say right now?”

🌙 A Practice to Try: Whisper Journaling

At the end of your day, sit quietly.Bring to mind one behavior or reaction that stood out—yours, your horse’s, or a loved one’s.

Then ask, “What was the whisper behind it?”Write without editing. Just receive.

You might be amazed at the truths hiding behind the tension.

💌 Invitation

What’s one moment lately when you felt misunderstood, overwhelmed, or dismissed? Was there a whisper behind your behavior?

Come share it with me—or better yet, come listen with the horses. They’re waiting in the field. Not to fix you…But to reflect you,To remind you,And to help you return home.
