What do you do in times of chaos?

Updated: Mar 8, 2019

The herd had a great message on that today and I felt compelled to share with you.

The past 30+ hours has dropped a huge amount of snow in our area making it difficult for many to live normal lives.

As I struggled to get the horses out and set this morning I finally managed to make it happen. I woke this morning looking outside at what I was going to be dealing with and realize that I'd get through it no matter what. And I did!

When I finally got inside the house and sat down to grab a bite to eat I was looking outside and was observing the horses. The snow fall was so huge that I couldn't get the tractor to the feed bin and I needed to go back to the old ways of doing things using a small pool and filling it with hay dragging it to the field as I was above knee deep in the snow. Yes a great workout 🙂 Anyhow I saw the horses making their way through the snow. Bliss who has severe back leg issues … her ligaments are severed due to heavy pulling, was trying to make her way through the snow despite having hay just outside the doors of the barn. But the other horses must have eaten from the pile. As she was struggling through the snow I was wondering why she was venturing out?

I saw the other horses come near her and made her move farther in the snow. When all the horses were gone she moved to the bin that contained hay covered by snow and had abundance.

The metaphor of this observation is this: We venture out in life … we live life … sometimes we make choices that are not easy but are necessary to live through because it is part of our journey.

Bliss ventured out and was moved even further, as there was chaos around her and for herself, she moved and at some point stayed still. Staying still until the chaos has passed is perhaps the best way to deal with life. So often we want to move, do. But all we need to do is stay still and assess what is going on, what needs to be done?

Life is life and we can go through times of ups and downs. It is all part of the growth. Life is like the wheel of fortune: It can raise you high or bring you low. You may feel like the luckiest person alive, when all is going your way but when a blow strikes, it can feel like the end of the world.

When we stand still and become indifferent to both victory and defeat we start to master the teachings of Fate.

Standing still gets our reactions in check and we can realize that the wheel has spun us into lessons designed for our learning, understanding and spiritual growth.

Stand still and be open to the lesson of life. You will get to abundance.

Thank you Bliss Thank you to the BWH herd for this message.
